Claude Cowork: Autonomous multi-step task execution
Claude Cowork is Anthropic's agentic AI system built for knowledge workers who aren't developers. Unlike a standard chatbot, Cowork connects directly to your local files, folders, and apps, letting Claude plan and execute multi-step tasks end-to-end rather than just answering one prompt at a time.
Point it at a messy Downloads folder and it will sort, rename, and deduplicate files. Hand it a set of source documents and it drafts a structured report. It can also run on a schedule — checking email each morning or compiling a weekly digest automatically. Every task starts with Claude proposing a plan for approval, keeping humans in control of consequential decisions while automating the repetitive assembly work in between.
